Shopify stores built to rank, load fast and sell
Store setup, custom themes, migrations and Shopify SEO for US businesses that sell products online, from a first store to a catalog that has outgrown its theme.
At a glance
- Who it is for
- Brands and local businesses selling products online, new or established
- Time to first signal
- Most store builds take four to ten weeks depending on catalog size
- Typical scope
- Theme, catalog, checkout setup, apps, SEO foundations, launch support
What does Shopify development include?
Shopify development covers setting up the store, designing or customizing the theme, structuring products and collections, configuring payments, shipping and taxes, connecting the apps you need, and making the store fast and searchable. Good development keeps the store on Shopify's native features wherever possible, so it stays easy to edit, quick to load and simple to maintain.
Most store problems we see come from the theme and the app stack, not from Shopify itself: an off-the-shelf theme stretched past what it was built for, a dozen apps loading scripts on every page, and product pages that never answer the questions buyers ask. We build from the catalog and the customer journey first, then choose the lightest theme and app setup that supports it.
Who this is for
- Businesses launching their first online store on Shopify
- Stores on WooCommerce, Wix or Squarespace that want to move to Shopify
- Shopify stores with a slow theme, a cluttered app stack or weak mobile conversion
- Local businesses adding online ordering, gift cards or product sales to a service site
What you get
Named deliverables, so the monthly invoice always maps to work you can see.
Store setup and configuration
Payments, shipping zones and rates, taxes, domains, notifications, policies and staff accounts configured correctly before launch.
Theme design and customization
A Shopify 2.0 theme customized with sections and blocks your team can edit, or a custom theme when the brand or catalog needs one.
Catalog and collection structure
Products, variants, metafields and collections organized so customers can filter and find things, and so search engines understand the catalog.
Migration to Shopify
Products, customers and order history moved from your current platform, with every old URL redirected so existing rankings carry over.
Shopify SEO and speed
Clean titles and descriptions, product schema, image compression, app audit and Core Web Vitals work so the store loads fast on phones.
Apps, integrations and tracking
Reviews, subscriptions, email, accounting or ERP connections chosen with care, plus GA4 and conversion tracking set up and tested.
How the work runs
In order. Each step produces something you can review before the next one starts.
- 1
Discovery and catalog review
We review your products, margins, shipping, current platform and the questions customers ask before they buy, and agree on scope, timeline and a fixed price.
- 2
Sitemap and wireframes
Collections, navigation and the key page layouts mapped out and approved before any design work starts.
- 3
Design and build
Theme customized or built, products and collections loaded, apps installed and configured, all on a development store or an unpublished theme.
- 4
Testing and SEO checks
Checkout, payments, shipping, taxes and emails tested end to end; redirects, schema, speed and mobile layout checked page by page.
- 5
Launch and 30-day support
Go live, monitor orders, Search Console and analytics, and fix anything that comes up in the first month.
Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom build
There is no single right platform. Here is how they compare for most small and mid-sized businesses.
| Dimension | Shopify | WooCommerce | Custom build |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Product-first businesses that want hosting, security and checkout handled | Businesses already on WordPress that want content and store in one place | Unusual pricing, B2B rules or workflows no platform supports |
| Running costs | Monthly plan plus app subscriptions and payment fees | Hosting, plugins and maintenance you manage | Highest build and maintenance cost |
| Ease of editing | Very easy once the theme is set up well | Easy, depends on the theme and builder | Depends on the admin that is built |
| SEO control | Good, with some fixed URL patterns | Full control | Full control |
How we measure it
- Online revenue, orders and conversion rate by device in GA4 and Shopify Analytics
- Organic traffic and product-page rankings in Search Console
- Core Web Vitals and page speed on mobile for product and collection pages
- Checkout completion and cart abandonment rate before and after launch
What this cannot do
- No agency can guarantee sales, rankings or a specific conversion rate
- Shopify fixes some URL structures, such as /products/ and /collections/, which cannot be changed
- Each app adds a monthly cost and often some page weight, so we keep the stack lean
- Migrations depend on the quality of your existing product data, which may need cleanup first
Shopify Development questions, answered
Direct answers first. If your question is not here, ask it on the call.
How much does a Shopify store cost to build?
It depends on the number of products, how much custom design is needed, migrations and integrations. After a short discovery call we send a fixed-price proposal with named deliverables, so you know the total before we start.
Can you move my store to Shopify without losing rankings?
Yes, if the migration is planned properly. We map every old product, collection and page URL to its new Shopify address and set up 301 redirects, then monitor Search Console after launch to catch anything missed.
Do I own the store and the theme?
Yes. The store is on your Shopify account, billed to you, and the theme and content belong to your business. We work as staff collaborators, and you can remove our access at any time.
Can you work on my existing Shopify store?
Yes. Many projects start with an audit of an existing store: speed, apps, theme code, product pages and SEO. We fix what holds the store back, and only recommend a rebuild when the current theme cannot be made fast and clear enough.
Is Shopify good for SEO?
Shopify gives you solid foundations: fast hosting, clean templates and editable titles and descriptions. Rankings still depend on well-written product and collection pages, structured data, internal links and site speed, which is where most of our SEO work goes.
Do you provide support after launch?
Every build includes 30 days of launch support. After that we offer monthly support and SEO plans for theme updates, new pages, app changes and ongoing optimization.
What we need to scope the project
- The goal of the site: more calls, quotes, bookings or orders
- New build or redesign, and the current platform if any
- Approximate page count and whether you sell online
- Examples of sites you like and your timeline
What happens next
- 1We review the details within one business day.
- 2A 20-minute scoping call to confirm pages, integrations and timeline.
- 3A fixed-price proposal with deliverables and a schedule you can hold us to.
